DIY Inspiration…

By Kimanh · On August 23, 2011

Inspirational DIY craft findsI’m yet to have the joy of holding my own baby after hours of excruciating agony, and nine months of expectancy (including morning sickness, food cravings, higher body temp, extra fat, feeling fat, maternity clothes, and spending quality time with a good friend I call ‘a social life’)… What does that have to do with the price of fish in China..? Well, actually just looking at the collection of DIYs today, makes me think of kids, and makes me want to be the kind of mum that encourages her kids to make stuff.. lots of stuff.. and all the time. I once read about open ended toys on the www somewhere, and thought I want to give my kids open ended toys. Giving a kid a pre-fab cubby house will always be a cubby house.. Give them a cardboard box and it can become a house, a car, a time-machine, and… you see what I mean. I don’t think I’m going to be perfect at this… nor do I think cubby houses are bad (Are you kidding me? My dream was to have a mortgage free cubby house growing up! 😉 ). But I would like my kids to DIY their own toys every now and then. I would like them to have an imagination and not rely on the latest new toy to have some childhood fun (but heck, that x1000 super soaker was SO much fun!). What I would like, and what comes may be two completely different things… Are there any mothers out there chuckling thinking I have no idea what’s coming?? Update: I am not pregnant! (just to clarify after my sister sent me an email asking if I was)

I was going to ask the same as your sister!!! Anyway, I like your point of view, this will make children more creative, some times we cut that huge imagination they have. I will try to find some ideas to share. PD: Please don't wait to much!!! ;)

I was getting excited there for a minute. I think you are amazingly creative that's something special I'm terrible wish I could learn in time so by the time LJ is a little older we create staff as it is so much fun will draw kids closer to their parents instead of tv's and computer games so I'll keep learning thank you for the inspiration please don't get tired
