Mint Limenade

By Kimanh · On July 18, 2011

limeade - how to make using lime and palm sugarDid you know your thirst is better quenched by something bitter? That’s what my husband says anyway. So, out with the soda and in with homestyle limeade (cousin of lemonade).

Mint Limenade Recipe
1.5L water
80g palm sugar
250ml lime juice (I used 3 large limes)
handful of mint

Dissolve the palm sugar in some hot water (minus the amount of water you use from the total needed). Once the sugar has dissolved, add the rest of the water and lime juice.

Bruise a handful of mint leaves (leave some on a stem for garnishing). This helps to release the fresh minty flavour. I did this by rubbing them together in my hands.

Drop the leaves in the mixture and stir. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes before taking out the mint leaves to serve. Add some ice cubes on a hot day, and add the leftover mint leaves on the stem (just because it’s pretty).

Lime drink recipe

Make sure you use your taste buds along the way, and adjust to suit your palate!

This is great! I made my own instant version a month ago (Minute Maid and homegrown mint). Not as gourmet as your beautiful version, but the mint really makes it very nice! http://cupandpenny.com/post/7012399016/mint-limeade-recipe

Very delicious! I made some of these for my kid's lemonade stand and it was a hit! The combination of the mint and lemon was perfect.

You can improve this recipe a LOT by adding a bit of whey and salt - or some kombucha tea and lacto fermenting it. Yummy and so good for your body.

So this makes about 1.75 liters of limeade correct? :) How many servings would you say that is? Thanks!
